Autistic woman choked to death after gross failings at understaffed St Teath care home, inquest finds

 

“The inquest heard that the staffing at Valley View care home was running at below 50% capacity on a regular basis.

A woman with autism and learning disabilities died as a result of neglect at a severely understaffed care home in North Cornwall, an inquest into her death found.

Tina Allen had been a resident at Valley View care home in St Teath near Camelford since 2003. The 59-year-old, who was registered as being on the autism spectrum, choked on food which was considered high-risk as part of her care plan.”
