Industrial Disease Assistant/Paralegal

Experience: No experience needed but some experience of being a paralegal in an industrial disease team is desirable.

Job Type: Full-time

The desirable applicant will be:

  • An A-level, university or LPC graduate
  • Keen to start and progress their legal career
  • Enthusiastic
  • Have an interest in industrial disease
  • Capable of working to deadlines
  • Able to prioritise the importance of work
  • Able to understand the importance of working to a system and of accurate record keeping, logging and flagging of important entries

Job description:

  • Assist as required on individual cases and to work closely with supervisor
  • Follow instructions to obtain different sets of medical and other records as required
  • Apply for employment histories from HMRC as directed
  • Undertake ELTO insurer searches and apply results intelligently
  • Monitor the return of records etc, open and save them, use software and different systems where sent electronically and flag up with supervisor when all received in each case
  • Learn how to review records and what to look for
  • Learn basic company history/insurance research skills
  • Learn the process to apply to the Companies Court to restore dissolved companies to the Companies House Register, lodge and prepare relevant documents, instruct counsel etc, so that this can be completely delegated in due course
  • Assist with research when required into job exposure history for older companies in long tail cases (hearing loss, any asbestos cases)
  • Learn basic interpretation of hearing test results and to apply Guidelines (2 sets) to analyse results
  • Learn basic claims process for ID cases over time

  • IT skills

 


 



Credit Hire Litigated Fee-Earner

We’re currently looking for a Litigated Fee-Earner to join our growing, successful and reputable Credit Hire Team. Based in West Didsbury, Manchester, we’re looking for someone who can be an asset to our team.

  • Have a keen interest in Credit Hire
  • Have excellent time management skills, allowing them to be able to deliver consistently with accuracy to deadlines

Job description:

As a Credit Hire Litigated Fee-Earner, you will be expected to work autonomously, handling a large case-load and taking a case from instruction to trial. 

On a day-to-day basis, your job role will involve:

  • Working alongside experienced fee-earners
  • Manage a busy and varied workload
  • Proactively using a case-management system to improve the speed of settlement

Required experience:

  • Have experience as a Litigated Fee-Earner
  • Have experience tracking Credit Hire Litigation through to trial
  • Have a minimum of 1-years’ worth of litigation experience
  • Have experience using Proclaim
  • Ideally have experience in Credit Hire

 



Housing Disrepair Fee-Earner

We’re currently looking for a Fee-Earner to join our growing, successful and reputable Housing Disrepair Team. Based in West Didsbury, Manchester, we’re looking for someone who can be an asset to our team and push us forward in this area.

 

Job type: Full-time

 

The desirable applicant will: have the following required experience:

  • Have a good knowledge of and working relationship with experts both locally and nationally
  • Have a keen interest in Housing Disrepair Law
  • Have excellent time management skills, allowing them to be able to deliver consistently with accuracy to deadlines
  • Have the ability to work well under pressure and flexible to work extra hours when required
  • Have the ability to organise and prioritise their caseload to meet tight deadlines
  • Have experience using Proclaim
  • Be motivated, resourceful, enthusiastic and professional with a meticulous attention to detail

 

In addition, the ideal candidate will display the following:

  • Have experience of handling a caseload with minimal supervision, taking claims from the initial vetting process through to litigation and trial

 



EL/PL Litigator

Experience: 3years+

Job type: Full-time

Salary: Dependent upon experience

The desirable applicant will be:

  • A confident and commercially-minded litigator.
  • A tenacious negotiator.
  • Able to demonstrate good personal and time-management skills.
  • Capable of handling a number of litigated files.
  • Able to work independently as well as within a wider team.
  • Well-versed in IT systems including paperless.
  • Driven and focussed.
  • Able to work well under pressure and flexible to work extra hours when required
  • Able to organise and prioritise their caseload to meet tight deadlines
  • Motivated, resourceful, enthusiastic and professional with a meticulous attention to detail.

 

Job description:

The successful applicant will handle a volume of mixed EL/PL/OL cases, both fast- and multi-track, which have exited the Portal system and/or are ready to be issued. This is a senior role.

 

Required experience:

  • Solid command of the relevant law goes without saying.
  • Good litigation experience, ideally 3yrs+.
  • Experience and knowledge of EL/PL claims portal.
  • Familiarity with Proclaim case management system.
